Volume 1: Foundation of Our Faith

Volume 1: Foundation of Our Faith focuses on spiritual development and the history of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Who are the Seventh-Day Adventists?

Why was the church formed?

What is it that we really believe?

Too easily we go through every-day life with the motions of being a Christian without truly understanding what it is we believe. Symbols and services degrade into mere traditions, and the reason and purpose for faith and religion are lost.

Starting in the late 1700’s, the Western world saw an explosion of interest in spiritual revival. Protestants were beginning to realize that their faith had become lukewarm, more tradition than meaningful worship of God, and their desire to know God better and bring revival to their churches sparked the fires of the First and Second Great Awakenings.

As the Second Great Awakening began to reach its peak, one voice stood out in the multitude: William Miller. The Millerite movement focused on Bible prophesy, and followers of the movement looked forward to the end of the world and the second coming of Christ.

In the wake of the Great Disappointment on October 22, 1844, one group of disheartened Millerites began to study the scriptures in more depth, looking for an answer to their miscalculation, an act which would spark the movement that eventually led to the development of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Program Overview

Focus Text:

“But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
